IDP Education Australia plans to expand

IDP Education Australia Ltd, which promotes Australia as a study destination, plans to expand in India through franchisees.
"We will open 30-35 offices in the next 3-5 years," Mr Henry Ledlie, Director of IDP Education Australia, told Business Line.
Mr Ledlie was in the city in connection with interviews conducted by the organisation where scores of students met representatives of 41 Australian universities for information on education courses available in that country.
"We will be very careful in selecting the franchisees. We will do due diligence to select them," he said.
At present, the organisation owns seven centres.
The IDP franchisees in India would start functioning next year, he said. IDP Education Australia has completed 10 years in India.
"The number of students going to Australia has gone up to 21,000 this year as against 300-odd in 1995," he said. "We plan to double the figure in the next five years."
India was next only to China in the number of students it sent to Australia.
Indian students constituted 10 per cent of the 2.2 lakh international students in Australia.
In post-graduate studies, Indians formed the largest contingent. Interestingly, Andhra Pradesh sent the most number of students.
