SiloconLabs launches 2-way X View monitors

Chennai , Sept. 1

X View from SiloconLabs offers back-to-back monitors that allow two or more users seated across from each other to simultaneously view, share and work with the same digital content, including Web, on a laptop or desktop computer, according to Mr L. Narayan, Managing Director, SiloconLabs.

The idea for X View came from Dr D. Janardhana Reddy, Chief Cardiovascular Surgeon, Vijaya Heart Foundation, Mr Narayan told reporters. Chennai-based SiloconLabs is a bio-medical engineering company that employs around 50 people, he said.

According to Dr Reddy, the product was inspired by doctors' need to explain complex anatomical/physiological clinical conditions to patients and their families prior to a surgery. Until now, all of them had to cluster around one monitor, he said.

Mr K. Sadagopan, Director, Prescriptions Consultants (Madras) Pvt Ltd, said that a 17-inch X View monitor would cost Rs 17,000 to Rs 20,000 more than an ordinary monitor. The company is in talks with various international manufacturers and plans to commercially launch the product beginning next year.

The company, which has applied for a patent for the new product, would give licences to manufacturers. "We expect to sell 4-5 lakh units in the first 12 months after the commercial launch," he said.
