Healthcare Products P&G Hygiene posts Q4 net of Rs 38.4 cr Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 3 PROCTER & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 38.36 crore for the fourth quarter ended June 2005 against Rs 12.67 crore in the year-ago period. Sales during the quarter under review grew 20 per cent to Rs 171.66 crore (Rs 143.59 crore). According to the company, the increased earnings in profit are due to the reversal of liabilities no longer required. The company has announced a dividend of Rs 40 per share, of which Rs 20 is a one-time special dividend. For the full-year ended June 30, 2005, it has recorded a 35 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 124.61 crore compared to Rs 92.17 crore in the previous year. Total sales during the full-year period grew 19 per cent to Rs 684.92 crore (Rs 577.24 crore), while profit before tax grew 40 per cent to Rs 177.79 crore (Rs 127.17 crore). The turnover of the company's core categories, namely, healthcare and feminine care, for the 2004-05 fiscal was Rs 394.01 crore, up 8 per cent over the previous year's Rs 365.48 crore. Sales of the Vicks Health Care brand were Rs 207.63 crore during the full year under review, up 3 per cent from the previous corresponding period (Rs 201.9 crore). Whisper Feminine Hygiene products' sales grew 14 per cent to Rs 186.38 crore (Rs 163.58 crore). Overall, non-core businesses were up by 37 per cent, driven mainly by an inter-company contract for manufacturing detergents, which grew by 48 per cent.
