Yash Tech, Fine Point partner to develop solution for telecom cos

Hyderabad , Sept. 4

YASH Technologies, an IT services and e-business solutions provider, has partnered with Fine Point Technologies to develop a technology solution on grid infrastructure for telecom companies.

The company, which claims it is the first to achieve this in grid infrastructure, expects to tap the growing telecom market in the region and replicate the technology's features and customise it for other industry verticals.

The Vice-President of Yash Technologies, Mr Kunal Chakravorty, told Business Line that the company has developed a solution for a telecom company that works in a heavy computing environment. Typically, telecom service providers are spread across locations and require a system that optimises their computing resources.

The solution has been developed in open source and the Linux environment using grid technologies that harness the power of computers across multiple locations. Apart from reducing the overall costs, this brings in the advantage of easier deployment and is faster to scale, Mr Chakravorty said.

Yash manages a dedicated engineering team for Fine Point, and sees an expanded role for this team as it deploys this solution in the US and other markets. The company is exploring the possibility of offering these solutions in India to telecom providers.

Yash Technologies is a $40-million company with three global development centres in India — Hyderabad, Indore and Pune.

The company has developed a mobile application for the Al Faisaliah group, in Saudi Arabia. The application helps manage accounting systems and supports sales and distribution of staff spread across locations. This enables companies to offer information to employees on handheld devices, said Mr Chakravorty.
