Swades scores over Hum Tum

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Sept. 5

SAIF Ali Khan may have pipped Shah Rukh Khan in the National Award race; but on television, Swades seems to have scored over Hum Tum.

According to Star India, Swades was the highest rated movie for the entire month across all movie channels with seven million viewers tuning in. This is despite the fact that Hum Tum had performed better than Swades on the box office. The broadcaster had aired the movie as part of its plans to convert Star Gold into a full-fledged movie channel.

In SEC A, Swades is the highest rated movie across Hindi movie channels for 2005, followed by Kal Ho Na Ho on Set Max and Munnabhai MBBS on Zee Cinema. The dubbed version of Titanic was the most viewed flick on Star Gold last year.

The channel is also buoyed by the success of Project Swades wherein it had proposed to light up one village. It has received over one lakh responses as of August 23 and has collected Rs 3.75 lakh.
