Outcome Budget

This refers to the article, "Outcome Budget — Credible evaluation only from independent agency", (Business Line, September 5).

The introduction of the Outcome Budget is welcome. But it is desirable that the performance of each programme/project be evaluated and further allocation to it be based on its efficiency and effectiveness.

The current method of annually allocating funds without evaluation is a waste of public money.

The task of evaluating should be assigned to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

C. Ramesh
