New Projects ONGC to soon call for engg contract bids for Dahej plant Our Bureau
Gandhinagar , Sept. 6 OIL and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) will call for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for its proposed methane and propane extraction plant at Dahej in the next two weeks. "We will invite the EPC bids for our C2 (Methane) and C3 (Propane) extraction plant at Dahej in the next two weeks. The project is likely to be completed in 24 months," the ONGC Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Subir Raha, said here on Tuesday. The C2/C3 extraction plant would cost about Rs 900 crore and would produce feedstock for the proposed Rs 4,000-crore petrochemicals project at Dahej in Gujarat where Petronet LNG has its liquefied natural gas import terminal. "We have committed nearly Rs 14,000 crore investments at Dahej. I had come to Gandhinagar to review the progress and discuss our ongoing cooperation with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC)," Mr Raha said after meeting State Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. Apart from the petrochemicals complex, ONGC is also planning to set up a 1,000-MW power plant and is partnering the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) to develop a Special Economic Zone at Dahej. Mr Raha declined to comment on the issue of ONGC picking up an equity stake in GSPC Ltd to jointly develop the Gujarat Government company's gas fields in the Krishna Godavari basin. "We continue to cooperate with GSPC. They have started commercial production of crude at their Dholka and the meeting was to discuss how we could extend the cooperation," Mr Raha said.
