New Delhi , Sept. 6

RELIANCE Energy-controlled BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL) has named Mr Arun Kanchan as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Kanchan replaces Mr Rakesh Aggarwal, who was removed recently following complaints regarding the functioning of the private distribution company.

BSES Yamuna and BSES Rajdhani, the two Reliance Energy group companies distributing power in Delhi, have been facing flak following consumer complaints regarding faulty billing and metering.

The move is also in line with the directions of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, which had given the company till October 7 to separate the offices and staff of the two companies.

Mr Kanchan was the CEO of Surat Electricity Company prior to joining BSES. As CEO of BSES Yamuna Power, he would be the overall in-charge of the 14 divisions of the company and would be stationed at BYPL headquarters at Karkardooma, the company said in a release.

Following the removal of Mr Aggarwal the Delhi operations were being monitored by a three-member Executive Committee, which included the REL Director, Mr J.P. Chalasani.
