Philips Lighting ties up with Martin Architectural

THE Lighting Division of Philips Electronics India Ltd, the Indian arm of Royal Philips Electronics of Netherlands, on Thursday announced an alliance with Martin Architectural of Netherlands under which Philips would incorporate the Martin Architectural range of luminaries in their designs for architectural lighting.

It launched a new range of luminaries in the country, some of which have been developed in India for the worldwide market. These will be showcased at Light India International Exhibition 2005 that opens in the Capital on Friday.

The set of luminaries launched today fall in to five main categories — city beautification, office lighting applications, downlights, road lighting, and solid state lighting-LED.

Mr S. Venkataramani, Executive Director and senior Vice-President, Philips India Ltd, Lighting, said, "The new products would further reinforce Philips's position as the leading lighting brand in the country."

The lighting business accounts for 36 per cent of the total revenue of the company in India, disclosed Mr Venkataramani. In absolute terms, the lighting business accounts for Rs 820 crore in the total sales of Rs 2,278 crore of the company.

The lighting and lighting equipments market in the country is pegged at Rs 2,800 crore, out of which Philips has a 30 per cent share.
