CASHING in on its vast reach, the Department of Posts has launched Direct Post, a new service offering cheaper solutions to corporates and businesses in distributing their campaign material.

Corporates and businesses can send mass mailers at a very cheaper tariff.

The department will charge Rs 1.50 for local delivery and Rs 2 for other destinations for mails weighing up to 20 gm. At least 1,000 articles need to be booked at a time to be to use the service.

Launching the service here recently, Mr T.S. Govindarajan, Principal Chief Postmaster General (Andhra Pradesh Circle), said corporates, utilities, educational institutions and civil society organisations can send their promotional material such as brochures, CDs, floppies and samples to their target audience. The service was launched nationally by Mr Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister for Communication, Information and Technology in July in Chennai.
