Sheet rubber declines

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Sept. 12

SPOT rubber prices were mixed on Monday. Buyers preferred to keep a low profile waiting for the usual Onam selling, which is expected to put further pressure on the prices in the days ahead.

Sheet rubber slipped to Rs 60 a kg from Rs 60.50 and Rs 60.25 a kg, respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. ISNR 20 improved by 50 paise on strong export enquiries, while the other grades, including latex, were steady with moderate volumes

The rubber futures were in a bearish mode except for September contract, which was quoted at Rs 62.50 (Rs 62.08) possibly on short-covering. The October contract was traded at Rs 59.11 (Rs 59.95), November at Rs 57.51 (Rs 58.24) and December at Rs 57.65 (Rs 58.12) per kg for RSS 4. At TOCOM, the October futures for RSS 3 declined to 184.2 yen from 188 yen per kg on Friday.

Spot rates a kg were: RSS-4 Rs 60 (Rs 60.50); RSS-5 Rs 58.50 (Rs 58.50); ungraded Rs 55.50 (Rs 55.50); ISNR 20 Rs 59 (Rs 58.50) and latex 60 per cent Rs 39.50 (Rs 39.50).
