Hyderabad , Sept. 12 JBoss Inc, a US-based open source technology company, has launched a centre at Hyderabad, its second facility after Bangalore to serve global clients. The Hyderabad centre would be in partnership with Softpro Systems Ltd. The Vice-President, Services, JBoss, Mr Brad Murdoch, told newspersons today: "India has emerged as a strategic market for JBoss, providing both key development-cum-global support resources and services." Mr Murdoch said the company finds innovative open source projects and professionalises them from a hobby into a livelihood by hiring the lead developers, who are often founders themselves. Based on this, JBoss provides both the resources, development and support services to enable open source projects to scale into enterprise stage software. Every year, when the issue of licence renewal or upgrade comes up before decision-makers in large enterprises, they are faced with the task of either opting for higher cost software or open source software. Such enterprises often end up with open source as the resources thus freed up from licence costs can be deployed into other areas of the company, Mr Murdoch explained citing a recent survey of 750 IT firms. "We are in the process of signing up with the one of the top five systems integrators in India," Mr Murdoch said.
