Watchguard in pact with Citrix

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Sept 13

WATCHGUARD Technologies, a Mumbai-based network security company, has partnered with Citrix Systems to deliver a secure service line (SSL) virtual private network (VPN) gateway solution.

The solution, a combination of WatchGuard's Firebox and Citrix' Secure Access gateway software, is being targeted at small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India. The two companies are expected to coordinate marketing and sales activities and anticipate developing additional SSL VPN products for SME customers.

SMEs are now the target of security vendors in India. According to the analyst firm International Data Corporation, the next wave of growth in the security software solutions market will be from SMEs.

"All these days, SSL VPN was restricted to the larger enterprises. The mid-market segment is an untapped market for SSL VPN," said Mr Ajit Pillai, Country Manager, India & SAARC, WatchGuard Technologies, at a press conference.

SSL VPN remote access technology is rapidly replacing Internet Protocol Security solutions in organisations across the country. The product, Firebox SSL, will help SMEs enable a remote workforce, said the release.
