New Products & Services HP launches high-end photo printer Our Bureau
New Delhi , Sept. 13 IT major Hewlett-Packard today launched a nine-ink photo printer - the Photosmart 8758 - for the professional segment, including photographers, designers and advertising agencies. "The latest results peg us at an 82 per cent market share for lasers and 71 per cent for the inkjet printers. The next wave in terms of growth will come from the photo printer segment. The cost of photo printing is now coming to a stage where home users can afford it," Mr Ravi Aggarwal, Vice-President - Imaging and Printing Group, HP, said at a conference here. He said the company was growing in every category ranging from single function products to the all-in-ones. Commenting on the nine ink photo printer, he said, "traditionally, photo printers have only eight inks, but the PS 8758 has an extra colour - blue. Eight ink printers generally use formulations for blue colour, but this high-end product would facilitate a swathe of blue colours, which is crucial for professionals." HP's Photosmart 8758 is priced at Rs 27,999. The company also launched the HP Photosmart 7838 at the entry-level and HP Photosmart 8038 at the mid-end. Also present at the launch was renowned National Geographic photographer and brand ambassador for the HP Photosmart range Mr Michael Yamashita.
