Lupin drug gets US nod

MUMBAI: Lupin Ltd has got regulatory approval in the US for its Lisinopril, used to lower blood pressure and treat heart failures. Astra Zeneca is the original patent holder of the drug, sold under the Zestril brandname.

Lupin has got the US Food and Drug Administration's approval for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Lisinopril Tablets USP, a company communiqué said here on Tuesday.

Lisinopril has posted sales of $520 million for the 12-month period ended June 2005. Lisinopril is Lupin's seventh generic approval till date and the second in fiscal 2005-06, the company said.
