DUBAI is pushing to improve business ties with India, and hopes to attract more Indian companies to invest in Dubai. At a seminar on business opportunities in Dubai, organised on Tuesday by the Confederation of Indian Industry - Southern Region, a delegation from Dubai highlighted the facilities on offer.

The delegation included Mr Mohammed Ali bin Suwailem, Dubai Airport Free Zone; Mr Sultan Majed Lootah, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Mr Jamal bin Marghoob, JAFZA Dubai Business Hub.

The delegates listed the trade opportunities for Indian businesses in sectors such as FMCG, consumer electronics, engineering and IT (equipment manufacturers), logistics and aviation, IT design, electronic components, gem and jewellery, BPO, pharma and healthcare.

"Dubai is an important transit location, with 160 destinations being routed through the city, and moreover it has 125 shipping lines and 106 air routes," said Mr Carl Vaz, Country Manager, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

"No trade barriers, no exchange control, and excellent infrastructure, telecommunications and reliable power utilities," he added.

Mr Jamal bin Marghoob, Assistant Regional Manager, JAFZA Dubai Business Hub (formerly Jebel Ali Free Zone), said: "You for us are like a small baby that we guide with excellent infrastructure, value added services and incentives."
