`Mobiles vulnerable to hackers'

MOBILE phones offering convergence of voice, data and video have become highly vulnerable to hackers, according to ethical hacker Ankit Fadia.

These mobile phones, which have turned into mini computers or hand held PCs, offering facilities such as e-mail, fax, pictures and videos have become subject matter for hackers, Mr Ankit Fadia who released his book `An Ethical Guide to Hacking Mobile Phones' here today said.

Addressing newspersons Mr Fadia, who was considered a teen-age sensation providing ethical hacking solutions to crack networks on behalf of police and establishments, said hackers could easily break into a mobile phone to steal data and make calls or send SMS.

Stating that there are several issues that concern mobile phone users, he said the security concerns covered hacking SIM cards, stealing sensitive data, copying the address book, intercepting data, bombarding with viruses, loading mobile trojans, password attacks, automatic locking and creating and sending anonymous text messages.

For instance, SIM Card cloning have increased the country.

Published by Macmillan India, and priced at Rs 220, the book is claimed to be the first book on the subject of mobile phone hacking and aims to educate and prepare mobile phone users against mobile phone related security loopholes, vulnerabilities and attacks.

In association with Kuoni Academy of Travel, Mr Fadia plans to launch courses in Travel BPO. He now plans to write a book on `People Hacking' that seeks to address issues relating to personal information that has potential to be stolen by impersonation.
