Big push to promote non-conventional energy planned

Our Bureau

Kochi , Sept. 15

THE Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES) will adopt a mission-based approach in tapping and popularising non-conventional energy in India.

In a bid to popularise and extend the use of renewable energy, the Ministry has expanded the stakeholder base by incorporating District Advisory Committees across the country. These committees oversee improvements in renewable energy activities and suggest requirements suited to individual districts.

It has also promoted day-to-day business interaction among the Advisory Committees and urged them to meet on a regular basis.

The Ministry also meets a portion of the Committee's fund requirements.

The Ministry is organising a one-day conference on Saturday, on the `Role of Stakeholders in Popularisation of Renewable Energy Options - Action-Based Approach' at Kochi. The Aditya Solar Shops of Kochi and Andhyodaya will assist the Ministry in organising the conference.

The conference is expected to discuss a number of issues related to the role of state nodal agencies, District Advisory Committees, non-Governmental organisations, Aditya Solar Shops, entrepreneurs in renewable energy business and like-minded public to provide a proper shape and direction to the network of Renewable Energy Movement in India.

The Renewable Energy Movement is expected to assume a mission approach where the actions initiated by the various stakeholders are to be reviewed periodically, a press release issued here has said.

Mr Vilas Muttemwar, Minister of State for Non-conventional Energy Sources, Government of India, will inaugurate the conference.

The conference will focus on making the renewable energy business more user-friendly, on ensuring better interaction between the stakeholders and that the renewable energy mission reaches all the villages of the country.
