Ranbaxy drug gets US nod

NEW DELHI: Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration, to manufacture and market Gabapentin tablets used to treat seizures.

The Ranbaxy formulations have the same therapeutic effect as that of the Pfizer's Neurontin, which has total sales of $2.2 billion. Mr Jim Meehan, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc, said: "We are pleased to receive this final approval for Gabapentin Tablets. We will now focus on maximising the value of this formulation, that will have a positive impact on our performance for the balance of this year."
