Elder to make Swiss co's drug

MUMBAI: Elder Pharmaceuticals will manufacture and market in India Artrodar, an arthritis drug, belonging to Switzerland's TRB Chemedica International SA.

This in-licensing pact marks Elder Pharma's foray into the estimated Rs 800-crore domestic pain segment, besides also scripting TRB Chemedica's entry into India. The drug has a global sales of $200 million, according to an industry representative.

Elder Pharma is an estimated Rs 300-crore company. According to Elder's top brass, the new drug is expected to generate about Rs 20 crore in its third year from launch.

Artrodar will be launched this month in the local market, a note from the company said.
