CESC signs MoU with Jharkhand for power station

CESC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Jharkhand for the setting up of a greenfield 1000 MW thermal power station at an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crore.

According to a press release issued by CESC here, the first phase of the project would cover 2 X 250 MW and the second phase 1 X 500 MW. Pre-feasibility studies would be conducted and one of the three alternate sites of Godda, Latehar and Chandil would be chosen as the project site.

The release said the Jharkhand Chief Minister, Mr Arjun Munda, welcomed the investment and said the State had no objection to the RPG Group's plans to export power from the State after meeting the requirements of Jharkhand.
