HENCEFORTH it will be mandatory for private agencies providing security services to obtain licence from the State Government following the Centre's newly enacted law for better regulation of private security agencies, according to a statement issued by the Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Department here on Friday.

While no private persons will be allowed to commence security services without obtaining the licence, existing agencies will be required to apply for it. However, the existing agencies will be permitted to continue their services till the State Government decides on their application.

The licences granted by the State Government will be valid for five years, the commissioner said in a press release.

The private agencies will be required to start their operations within six months of obtaining the licence.
