Cashing in on transparency

The proposal to issue cheques to the rural employees under the new scheme will no doubt ensure transparency. The services of co-operative institutions could also be utilised as they have more access and reach in the villages.

Take for example the practice of the "rubber board" of disbursing the money due to the farmers, which has been working smoothly for the past five years thanks to the practice of transacting through cheques and not cash.
