Goa reconstitutes Planning Board

THE Goa Government has reconstituted the State Planning Board, which will be headed by the Chief Minister, Mr Pratapsing Rane.
Congress MLA Mr Karl Vaz has been nominated as the Deputy Chairman of the board (the Deputy Chairman is accorded a Cabinet rank and status).
The non-official members of the board include the leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar; the policy analyst, Mr V. A. Pai Panandikar; the former MD of IDFC, Mr Nasser Munji; the Vice-Chancellor, Goa University, Mr P. S. Zacharias; the Director, National Institute of Oceanography, Mr S. R. Shetye; and the President, Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Nitin Kuncolienkar.
Ms Silviya Albuquerque, Director, Directorate of Planning and Statistics Evaluation, is the Member Secretary of the board.
The planning board is the State's highest policy advisory body. It will have all Secretaries to the Government as its official members and all Cabinet Ministers will be its invitees. The Board will advise the Government on macro-economic policies and the implementation of development plans.
