Heavy withdrawals at Coonoor auctions

SLUGGISH demand, heavy withdrawals and disruption to the e-sales marked the auctions of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) on Friday when 15.1 lakh kgs were offered.

Consequently, some lines of leaf and dust grades continued to fetch Rs 20 a kg - the lowest level for the year prevailing for the last nine weeks.

Pakistani buyers picked up clean well made smaller brokens and fannings for over Rs 40 a kg. CIS and Poland buyers operated on the medium and plainer grades from Rs 22 to 28 a kg. .

Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 22 a kg for the plain dusts and Rs 56-63 for the brighter liquoring grades; Rs 20-23 for the plain leaf grades and Rs 48-55 for the brighter liquoring grades.
