Rubber prices unchanged

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Sept. 20

SPOT rubber prices were steady on Tuesday. The absence of quantity buyers and sellers kept the prices static as the trading volumes were also in a low key. According to observers, the prices are expected to seek further lows since an improvement in arrivals is expected in the weeks ahead. Anyhow the market is looking forward for revised quotes from the tyre sector and a positive move from their side might enhance the prices for a short term.

The NMCE rubber gained smartly following a bullish move in global futures possibly due to the spurt in crude oil prices. The October delivery contract was quoted at Rs 60.18 (Rs 59.20), November at Rs 58.99 (Rs 57.68), December at Rs 58.70 (Rs 57.95) and January at Rs 59.24 (Rs 58.63) per kg for RSS 4.

The volumes stood at 782 lots; trading 479 lots in October, 168 lots in November, 83 lots in December and 52 lots in January till mid-session.
