Beautifying Lal Bagh

The State Horticulture Department has decided to improve the infrastructure and beautify the Lal Bagh in Bangalore at a cost of Rs 9.39 crore. The proposed works include desilting of the lake and islands, establishment of a weather observatory and installation of rainwater harvesting structures. The Union Budget had earmarked Rs 207 crore for horticulture development in Karnataka. The Union Government has released the first instalment of Rs 87 crore under the National Horticulture Programme in the State. The programme will be taken up in 13 districts.
