Chartered accountants meet starts today

THE Committee for Members in Industry of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will hold its All-India Conference - `Making Today's Challenges, Tomorrow's Opportunities' at Goa from September 22 to 24.

The technical sessions on topics such as `Important Issues in Accounting Standards', `Challenges in Service Tax', `Opportunities under FEMA for Inward Investment', `Implementation and Scope of Fringe Benefit Tax, Recent Trends' and `Overview of Internal Audit, Changes/Amendments by Finance Act 2005 in Service Tax' will be deliberated upon at the conference hosted by Goa branch of Western Regional Council (WIRC) of ICAI at Calangute in North Goa.

Mr V. Murali, Chairman, Committee for Industry, ICAI & Central Council Member, ICAI, along with Conference Director Mr Uttam Agarwal, Vice-Chairman Committee for Industry, ICAI & Central Council Member, Host Branch Convener Mr Satish Dhume, Chairman, Goa Branch, WIRC along with Branch coordinators Mr Sandeep Bhandare, Vice-Chairman, Goa Branch of WIRC and Ms Sushma Khandeparkar, Secretary, will attend the conference.

Over 300 delegates are expected to attend the conference.

The three-day conference will be inaugurated by the Goa Governor, Mr S.C. Jamir. The ICAI, President, Mr Kamlesh Vikamsey, will be the guest of honour, Mr Dhume said.
