Music & Dance Marketing - Retailing Music World enters Mumbai Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 23 MUSIC World, the country's largest music and home video retailer, marked its entry into the city with a standalone store opened in the Fort area earlier this week. Its specific attraction, besides the regular collection of music, is a well-stocked home video section, an official statement said. The annual music industry size in India is currently estimated at Rs 700 crore, while the home video market is estimated at between Rs 150-175 crore. The Mumbai market size for music is in the region of Rs 150-180 crore. Music World enjoys a market share of about 20 per cent in most cities where it is present. "We are looking at gaining a strong foothold in Mumbai as well," Mr Sanjay Gupta, General Manager (Operations & Marketing), said. Plans are afoot to open three more stores in the city.
