Rs 504-cr Nabard aid for AP

THE National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 504.24 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF-XI).
With this, the total Nabard assistance to the State has gone up to Rs 852.89 crore in this financial year.
The amount would be utilised for 250 road projects, 43 irrigation projects, 177 primary healthcare centres (PHCs), 388 Government junior colleges and 392 high schools.
The decision to sanction the amount was taken at a Nabard meeting held at New Delhi on Thursday, the General Manager, Mr B.B. Nayak, said here in a press release.
Of the Rs 504.24-crore, Rs 227.36 crore would be allocated for laying blacktopped roads in rural areas, covering a total length of 1,730 km. This would benefit people in 1,492 villages and 527 market centres spread in 22 districts.
About Rs 63 crore would be spent on completing 31 minor irrigation projects in nine districts and Rs 25.41 crore on 12 lift irrigation schemes in six districts.
