New Delhi , Sept. 24

FUNDING of expansion plans for the Apollo Hospitals Group will not be a problem with the company already sitting on a Rs 400-500-crore kitty.

Speaking to Business Line, Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, said, "We will be deploying funds to upgrade our existing facility as well as build new hospitals."

It has short-listed about 43 sites in the smaller cities and hopes to set up First Med Hospitals in at least 4-7 of them soon. It is also looking at setting up large healthcare centres in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Dr Reddy said the company is planning to bid for acquiring centres under the National Health Service (NHS) of the UK.

"While bids have been called for 10 centres, we hope to get at least 2-3 centres," he added.

It is also planning to foray into Poland, Yemen, Kuwait and Nigeria.

A team from the group, which recently visited Poland for a feasibility study, has already submitted its report. "Our team will study the project and give a final report by next week on the details to set up a multi-speciality hospital in Poland," he said.

Apollo is also hoping to increase access to medicine through tele-medicine with a tie-up with Reliance Infocomm.Under this, 80 telemedicine centres at Apollo Hospitals across the country will leverage Reliance Infocomm's 240 WebWorlds in 105 cities to offer healthcare to people in remote areas.
