Concor to launch ICD

Our Bureau

For over a year now, Container Corporation of India is sitting tight over a proposal to launch either an inland container depot (ICD) or a terminal at Durgapur/Asansol area in West Bengal, for reasons best known to the powers-that-be in the organisation.

If only 10 per cent of the freight currently moving by road in and out of various industrial establishments including steel plants located in the area could be transferred into containerised movement by rail, there will be enough business for Concor, according to one estimate.
