Satyam bags GSM deal from WHO

THE World Health Organisation (WHO) has chosen Satyam Computer Services Ltd to implement its Global Management System (GSM), the IT company announced on Monday.

Satyam claimed that this multi-million dollar deal marks one of its largest wins in Europe where it will implement Oracle ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) across 140 countries for WHO's operations.

Satyam will spearhead the operational overhaul for WHO after an elaborate request for proposal (RFP) and an evaluation process involving some of the biggest players..

The Head of Satyam Europe Operations, Mr Keshab Panda, in a statement, said, "Our ability to rapidly comprehend WHO-GSM requirements and suggest suitable solutions through a consultative approach is unique."

WHO has embarked on an efficiency programme to improve interactions with the external donor community and other agencies. It covers the integration of the operations of the country offices, regional offices and the headquarters.
