New Delhi , Sept 26 HYUNDAI Motors India is sharpening focus on its premium hatchback model Getz. The company on Monday signed up tennis player Sania Mirza as brand ambassador for its `Getz' model, and said that it would hike the production capacity of the model to 3,400 units a month by next year. The company is also preparing to introduce its new M-Series model, to be positioned between the mid-sized sedan Accent and top-end model Sonata, by August-September next year. "At present, we are producing around 1,400 units of the Getz per month, but with the second line we will add another 2,000 unit units in April-June next year. We are planning for capacity expansion in a phased manner over a period of six to nine months," Hyundai Motor India President, Mr B.V.R. Subbu, said. The hike in capacity is in expectation of better sales as Hyundai steps up its focus on the Getz. The endorsement tie-up is the latest in the string of initiatives kicked off by Hyundai to boost demand for Getz. Prior to this, the firm had introduced a stripped down version of the car, which was Rs 37,000 cheaper than the entry-level version of Getz. Ms Mirza will endorse the Getz in all Hyundai promotions during the contract period, Mr Subbu said. This is in line with company's strategy of signing popular personalities to promote its brand.
