YSR orders 25 pc hike in compensation

Hyderabad , Sept. 26

THE Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Monday directed the officials to enhance the norms of relief assistance by 25 per cent from the present to all the affected farmers suffered due to cyclonic storm that hit the state recently.

Dr Reddy who reviewed the pattern of assistance to the farmers announced the enhancement, according to an official release.

Hitherto Rs 1,000 per hectare was being given to jowar, bajra, ragi, castor, sesamum, Rs 1,250 per ha to maize pulses, sunflower, soyabean wheat and ajwain.

The rate was Rs 1,500 per ha to paddy, groundnut, cotton, sugarcane, turmeric, chillies, vegetables, onion, flowers, papaya, watermelon, tapioca, coriander and horticulture nurseries, Rs 3,000 per ha for mango, citrus, cashewnut, sapota, guava, pomegranate, ber etc, Rs 4,000 per ha for bananaRs 2000 per ha for tobacco (natu).
