Tank lorry owners to boycott JNPT port, Toll Naka

Mumbai , Sept. 27

MEMBERS of the Maharashtra Tank Lorry Owners' Association from Mumbai, Maharashtra and other States have decided to boycott JNPT port and Toll Naka at the National Highway No 4B at JNPT— Panvel Road from October 5.

They are protesting the toll being levied and the Centre's decision to allow semi-government bodies to create companies that collect the toll tax as the Mumbai JNPT Port Road Company is currently doing.

Tank lorry owners claimed that the heavy tolls could not be passed on to the customer, according to a press release.

The transport of all kinds of petroleum products, liquid chemicals and edible oils from JNPT could come to a standstill indefinitely until the collection of the toll tax collection is stopped, the release said.
