AP Assembly session from today

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 27

THE State Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, has said the brief Assembly session beginning on Wednesday would debate a few Ordinances, including the one on bringing in fiscal discipline.

These were promulgated when the session was not on and would be replaced by Acts.

The enactment on fiscal discipline aims to bring down the deficit to zero level by 2006-2007 as per fiscal framework. Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Rosaiah said the agenda for the session would be based on the decision of the Business Advisory Council.

He said the Government was keen on empowering the local bodies based on the Constitution 73rd and 74th amendments.

The Congress Government is in the process of working out ways to decentralise and empower these bodies freeing them from earlier created committee, such as the ones on expense (finances) and vidya (education).
