H-P tops in x-86 server market

BANGALORE: Hewlett Packard has maintained leadership position in the x-86 server category in India, garnering 42 per cent year-on-year growth in absolute unit terms, according to IDC server tracker for the second quarter of 2005.

H-P has also registered a sequential growth of more than seven per cent in the second quarter and has emerged as leader in two consecutive quarters, the report said.

It dominated the x-86 server market with 23 per cent share in the second quarter, the company said in a press release. The key contributions for the growth have been recorded in the public sector, small and medium businesses and the enterprise segments.
