Thiruvananthapuram airport contingency plans

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Authorities at the Thiruvananthapuram airport have invoked contingency plans in view of the proposed 12-hour strike by employees of the Airports Authority of India on Thursday.

"We do not expect services at the airport to be disrupted," said Mr K. Natarajan, Airport Director, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. All necessary backup arrangements have been made, he added.

Officials of the Air Traffic Control will not be taking part in the nationwide strike by the Airports Authority of India staff.

Similarly, the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises, which operates the air cargo complex at the Thiruvananthapuram international airport, has made preparations to deal with the strike. The air cargo complex will be fully functional and will process both imports and exports, said a company official.
