DTDC plans to strengthen network in UK, US

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Sept. 29

DTDC, a Bangalore-based air express and cargo company, plans to strengthen its network in the UK and the US by adding six franchisee outlets to tap the growing demand for services from the NRIs and other customers.

The company had recently announced a joint venture with the Emirates Postal Corporation, Dubai, for catering to international consignments through its wide network spread over South-East Asian countries, the US and the UK. DTDC would be investing 50 per cent of the overall investment of about Rs 36,00,000 in the joint venture.

Mr Subhasish Chakraborty, Chairman & Managing Director of DTDC, said the tie-up with Emirates Post would help it gain more inbound business from Dubai.

It would also open up new gateways for servicing not only India and the cities of UAE, but would also help in handling the delivery of international destinations including Pakistan.

DTDC opened an associate office in Pakistan last month, he said.

With the new tie-ups, the company hopes to increase its turnover by about 45 per cent to Rs 220 crore by next fiscal, of which 50 per cent business would be from the foreign network. DTDC was planning to augment distribution infrastructure to benefit from large business potential expected to grow from the mushroom growth of private airlines, he said.
