Tourism Kerala Govt to consult KITCO on tourism projects Our Bureau
Kochi , Sept. 29 THE Department of Tourism has appointed KITCO Ltd as consultant for implementing various tourism related projects throughout the State. Addressing the company's annual general meeting, Mr V. Janakiraman, Chairman, said KITCO is implementing 35 tourism related projects, which include beautification of Alappuzha canal, construction of Arts and Crafts Village at Vizhinjam and development of Kottakunnu Maidan. Tourism is one of the most dynamic socio economic sectors in the State, which ensures the maximum number of employment as a single industry. He said KITCO is poised to become Rs 10-crore company in the next three years. It had achieved a turnover of Rs 4.38 crore in 2004-05, registering a growth of 20.85 per cent over the previous year. The company is aiming for a growth of 25 per cent in the next financial year and declared dividend for the eighth consecutive year. KITCO has rendered consultancy services in a variety of fields during the year. The company has bagged three design assignments from Airports Authority of India, Gagan Project for ISRO at Bangalore, new domestic terminal at Ahmedabad Airport and a new integrated terminal building for Vizag Airport. In the industrial infrastructure sector, it has constructed and commissioned 110 kV sub-station for the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ). It is also providing consultancy services for the operation and maintenance of the standalone water supply system and common effluent treatment plant of CSEZ.
