Mr Gopi Mattel

Chennai , Sept. 30

CELLARSTONE Inc, a US-based technology and consulting firm, has acquired CellarStone India Pvt Ltd, software development and consulting firm.

The CEO of CellarStone Inc, Mr Gopi Mattel, announcing the acquisition here on Friday, said the move would integrate both companies, which had been partners over the last few years.

Declining to divulge the cost of acquisition, Mr Mattel said it was a cash purchase. He declined toprovide turnover figures too.

The Indian company focuses on development of products and the US company on marketing. Their roles will continue, with the Indian subsidiary developing software products, and the market focus will be on small businesses, particularly in the US. According to Mr Mattel, small businesses are the emerging markets that are an untapped potential for software companies.

In the US, there are over 200 large enterprises that employ more than 5,000 people each and over 55 lakh small enterprises that employ less than 500 each. The company's major new product line is sales commission software, Qcommission, that can be applied in every business that sells any product.
