Filippis is new Fiat India MD

MUMBAI: Fiat India on Saturday announced the appointment of Mr Giovanni De Filippis, as Managing Director of the company with effect from October 1.

The appointment assumes significance as Mr Filippis has been involved in the negotiations between Fiat and Tata Motors on their recent tie-up. The companies have signed an MoU for exploring the possibility of collaboration in development and manufacturing of passenger cars.

Mr Filippis has been with the Business Development Department of Fiat Group since 2001. Prior to that, he was the Group's Chief representative in Egypt, according to a release issued by Fiat India. He joined Fiat in 1992 as Production Manager.
