Tea Mixed trend in Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , Oct. 2 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Dust sale witnessed a good general demand. It was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 12,70,000 kg on offer in the dust category, high priced CTC's were lower by Rs 5-8. Medium was lower by Rs 3-6, while bottom CTC's easier by Re1-3. Orthodox Highgrown steady to dearer, while mediums remained steady. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 55-68, medium CTC realised Rs 45-52 and below medium were quoted Rs 20-25. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 75-117, medium BOPD realised Rs 32-36. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 21-24. The leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 3,55,000 kg. Orthodox Highgrown brokens and whole leaf grades were barely steady to be easier by Rs 3. Fannings remained steady. CTC's were generally easier by Rs1-2. Exporters were selective. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 55-80; medium orthodox realised Rs 37-49. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 41-47, while medium CTC realised Rs 34-36. In the dust category, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 117 followed by Hittakal Splty SFD by Rs 100. In the leaf varieties, Havukal BOPF realised the best prices of Rs 105, followed by Chamraj OP by Rs 104.50.
