Tata Steel records all-time high production in Q2

TATA Steel recorded an all-time high hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production in the second quarter of fiscal 2005-06. During July-September 2005, Tata Steel produced 1.32 million tonnes of hot metal, 1.23 million tonnes of crude steel and 1.21 million tonnes of saleable steel, thereby registering a growth of 17 per cent, 15 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively, over the corresponding period of last year.

According to a press release issued by the company here, the second quarter sale of 1.18 million tonnes marks an increase of 14 per cent compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Supplies to the auto sector comprising CR and galvanised products in the second quarter of 2005-06 went up by 10 per cent and 221 per cent, respectively, compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Sales of branded products such as Tata Shaktee and Tata Steelium went up by 16 per cent while sales of Tata Tiscon went up by 15 per cent compared with the second quarter of last year.

The release states that commissioning trails of the new 6,00,000 tonnes per annum bar mill was progressing well.
