Letters M&M's gesture
This refers to "M&M commits 1 pc PAT to social projects" (Business Line, October 2). There is no doubt that the proposal will benefit the needy and improve opportunities in the rural areas. There are quite a large number of children who need a helping hand to improve their education. The youth require more employment opportunities. The Nanhi Kali project for girls should target the low-income groups. The corporate sector should take up more such social projects. The gesture shown by Mahindra & Mahindra should act as an example to others. In many villages, one can see that talent and skills are going to waste because of lack of financial support. The governmental role in this direction is limited and the corporate world should, therefore, pitch in.
