Merchants' body to host commodity trading workshop

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Oct. 3

WITH the steady integration of the Indian economy with the global economy, the risk perception among stakeholders in the commodities sector is undergoing changes, even as the thrust of the Government policy is on risk management.

While more and more players are today participating in the commodity derivatives market and benefiting from it, there are many who are unaware of the investment opportunities that exist in this nascent, yet burgeoning, market.

In order to familiarise entrants to this new business opportunity and create awareness about the nuances of cash and derivatives markets, the Economic Research and Training Foundation (ERTF) of Indian Merchant's Chamber is organising a one-day programme on October 7 at the IMC premises here.

The programme will cover present developments and future trends of global and Indian commodity market; laws governing the market; functioning of commodity exchanges, governance and risk management; regulatory issues and so on.

In addition to presentations by well-known authorities on the subject and interactive discussion with an expert panel, there will be a demonstration of trading online, a release from IMC said. Dr Kewal Ram, Member, Forward Markets Commission (market regulator) will inaugurate the programme.
