VIRTUSA Corporation, a US-based IT services provider with development centres in India, on Monday announced it would expand its global delivery teams by 20 per cent next quarter.

The company currently has about 1,200 people working in Hyderabad and Chennai. The expansion will mean an addition of about 240. Virtusa claimed its revenues have increased steadily resulting in a three-year compounded annual growth rate in excess of 50 per cent.

The company secured 11 new clients in the second quarter of 2005, including a Global 500 telecommunications company, a Global 500 financial services firm and a Fortune 100 high-tech manufacturing firm.

The President and Operating Officer of Virtusa, Mr Danford Smith, in a statement said: "Increasingly, Virtusa is being chosen as a strategic partner. We will bring on the talent we need to support current and future client needs."

The General Manager, Virtusa (India), Dr Santanu Paul, said, "We will expand this team with the best talent available."
