GEMINI Systems, the US-based consulting company, is setting up an offshore development centre (ODC) in Chennai to provide technology support services for its large clients, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), according to Mr Krishnan Naranapatty, Director, Gemini Systems (India) Private Ltd.

The company, which is one of the technology vendors for NYSE, would begin the Chennai centre with 30 employees, and increase the headcount to around 100 by next year-end. Gemini has been providing technology and consultative services to the NYSE since 1989, he told Business Line.

The company's other major clients include American International Group, American Express, Citibank and Goldman Sachs, he said.

According to Mr Naranapatty, Gemini Systems developed the NYSE Electronic Filing Platform (EFP), an extranet infrastructure that provides connectivity to around 600 business partners of the exchange such as member firms, listed companies, market data providers and other regulatory organisations.

Mr Naranapatty, who is relocating to India from the US to head the company's 100 per cent subsidiary in Chennai, said that Gemini was looking for engineers with capabilities in Java platform and two to three years of work experience.
