Empee Hotels in pact with Hilton to manage property

Chennai , Oct. 5

EMPEE Hotels Ltd, part of the Empee Group, has signed an agreement with Hilton International to manage and operate its five-star deluxe property, which is scheduled to open by December 2007.

Mr M.P. Purushothaman, Chairman, Empee Group, said the property is promoted by Empee Hotels with an investment of Rs 184 crore.

Empee Hotels owns and operates two three-star hotels in the city.

The 253-room Hilton Chennai will have six food and beverage outlets, a destination bar, a swimming pool, four conference rooms, a ballroom, a business centre, a health club and a spa.

The hotel will be about 15 minutes from the Chennai airport.

Ms Nisha Purushothaman, Managing Director, Empee Hotels Ltd, said Wimberley Allison Tong & Goo has designed the hotel, in the Indo-Saracenic style.

Mr Koos Klein, President, Hilton International, Middle East and Asia Pacific, said Hilton was keen to increase its presence in India.

He said Hilton has signed up two properties in Bangalore, a 100-villa holistic lifestyle retreat in Shillim in the Western Ghats. It is close to signing up two hotel properties in Hyderabad, he said.
